Many research studies in the past have shown that people with diabetes have a higher risk of developing gum disease and losing teeth. But a host of new research has shown that the reverse also holds true. People with gum disease have a much higher risk and incidence of developing type II Diabetes. A recent research team at NYU Medical center discovered a 50% higher chance of Pancreatic Cancer among patients who had present in their saliva the bacteria P.Gingivalis that is responsible for gingivitis and gum disease.
